Now that social sites are so popular they are being used for advertising, talking to friends, and reconnecting with lost people. Losing connections is easy after leaving high school or college. However, social networking sites allow you an easy way to stay close to friends who are miles away or even on the other side of the country. You can find lost friends and family members many ways using Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter.
First try to do a simple name search on the different social sites. The site should have a search where you can simply type in the name of the person you are looking for and find results quickly. However, with common names numerous results may show up which could make it slightly difficult to find the right person.
If many results show up for the name the best option is to look at the profile pictures. Almost every social site gives you the ability to upload a profile picture. Most likely they probably have a picture up where you can try and identify the person you were looking for.
Also if the social site has a chat room or message board you could post about the person you are trying to locate. This is great because you can ask people who have been on the social sites if they know someone by that name or who is similar to the person you are looking for. Even though this is a more difficult way of finding this person it could help if the person is not using their real name on the site.
The last option would be if you know a hobby the friend was always interested in. You can usually use a search on the site to look for people with this hobby in their interests. This works best if you know something really important to the person or know they are not using their real name on the site.
Social networking sites have allowed people to not only meet new friends but also stay connected to old friends. You can stay close to old high school friends, past coworkers, or just family members.
