Can you put a stop payment on the check or has he already cashed it?
If you sent him the money by mail, then you can phone the post office and report mail fraud, they will advise you what to do..
Get a copy of the check you sent through your bank then..try to contact the police in their area as you must have the address.. and they might be able to help you also.. or at least advise you what to do..Good Luck!
